WEEK 12 - Allow me to reintroduce myself!
Hey HOMwork friends, happy Friday!
(If this is your first time joining us, take a peek at our Challenge Archive for all previous assignments.)
We've got a sweet guest assignment from my talented friend Ann Chen! A self-taught lettering artist, Ann bends the rules of typography with whimsical linework and letterforms. Her illustrations are inspired by daily musings expressed through a colorful and positive lens. She designs murals, apparel, and stationery for small businesses out of her studio in Salt Lake City, Utah. When she’s not drawing the alphabet, Ann enjoys traveling, trying new eateries with her husband, and pampering her cat, Lil' Sebastian..
From Ann:
According to a Microsoft study, our average attention span is merely 8 seconds thanks to the online culture of swipe and scroll. Which is why it’s important to have a mini biography that quickly captures who you are and what you do, so you can attract clients and connect with your audience in this fast-paced space!
You’ve probably read mini-bios of authors on the back of books or a webpage of speakers for a conference. It’s a useful marketing tool that everyone should have in their back pocket because you never know when you’ll be invited to be on a podcast, or in my case, a guest #HOMwork teacher (thanks Lauren!). When this happens, you’ll need to provide a mini-bio so the host can introduce you, after all, you know yourself best!
OMG FREE BRUSHES!
Awww yeah - as a HOMwork subscriber, you get two FREE Procreate brushes to play with every week, courtesy of DesignCuts.

Your Assignment: Write a mini 3-5 sentence biography in the third-person (as if you’re being introduced to a crowd on stage). Letter the first sentence, post it on Instagram, and share the rest of your bio in the caption!
The key to this #HOMwork is identifying who you are and the services/products you offer. This is a great exercise no matter where you’re at in your business or creative journey!
Think of the who, what, where, and why. Consider your artistic style, voice, notable clients, projects, and achievements. Ending with a fun detail like your hobbies or life motto is optional. Just keep it under 5 sentences and use third-person language so it looks profesh!

Lauren & Ann
