It's packed full of helpful tools like e-courses, detailed articles on biz-related topics, and a giant, free resource library to get your wheels turning. We're here to guide you through the process of monetizing your art and creating a successful and sustainable business that you love!

Loomier: The ultimate resource for artists who mean business.

From Katie and Ilana:

This week, we're challenging you to think about the business side of your art by creating your own transformation statement. What the heck is that, you ask?

A transformation statement is a simple sentence that defines the core of your biz and helps you get really clear on what you do and why. Here's a simple formula to help you build yours:

I help [insert target customer] to [positive change or outcome] by/through [value you provide].

Here's an example of our own transformation statement for Loomier: Loomier helps artists make money doing the work they love through resources, courses, and community support.

An artist who does wedding calligraphy might say something like: I help couples create beautiful moments and memories with the custom touch of calligraphy.

'Loomier helps artists make money doing what they love through resources, courses, and community support.'

Your assignment: Take some time to contemplate your own transformation statement, then letter or illustrate it and share with the world!

Don’t forget to use the hashtags #HOMwork2020 and #artistsmeanbiz and tag @loomier.co and @homsweethom when you post your work on Instagram. We’ll be sharing our favorites in our Stories all week!

P.S. If you're ready to explore Loomier's resources, a great place to start is our free mini-course called How Artists Make Money where we dive into the 7 different income streams artists can tap into to monetize their art. You can also join our free Facebook community and start connecting with other like-minded artists in business!

Lauren Hom

Lauren Hom is a designer, letterer, and educator. A self-proclaimed "artist with a business brain", she picked up hand lettering as a hobby while studying advertising in college. Over the next few years (and thanks to the power of the internet), she leveraged a few clever passion projects into a thriving design career.

When she's not designing, you can probably find her cooking an elaborate vegetarian meal at home or finally making her way through the niche craft supplies she bought last year.
