WEEK 21 - Let’s get inspired by the people we’ve admired.
Hello and welcome to Week 21 of #HOMwork!
Now typically throughout this challenge, we’ve focused on lettering unique phrases, but this week, I’m making a slight exception. Even though I truly believe that writing your own content is the best way to go, it doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy lettering the occasional inspirational quote from someone I admire (like the one above from Shonda Rhimes).
I first read this quote from Shonda’s best-selling book, Year of Yes. It made me realize that we often downplay our successes for the sake of seeming humble instead of simply owning and acknowledging them.
Sure, you might have been in the right place at the right time, but you didn't just get lucky. You worked hard and took advantage of opportunities, too. The more we get comfortable celebrating ourselves, the more we'll cheer on everyone else.
Your assignment this week is simple: letter or design a quote that’s inspired you from one of your role models. Whether you saw it this week or years ago, pick something that really spoke to you.
After you complete the assignment, the second part of the challenge is to snap a photo of your drawing and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #HOMwork so we can see what everyone created. In the caption, tell us why the quote is meaningful to you and why the person who said it inspires you. Bonus points for tagging them in your post too!
Make sure to complete & post your work before you go to bed on Thursday night next week because there will be a new challenge waiting for you next Friday.
Can’t wait to see what you make & get inspired by your quotes!
