WEEK 28 - It's the little things...that ruin your day.

Let's make the best...of the worst!

"Getting comfy in bed and then realizing you have to pee." Hand lettering by Lauren Hom.

Hello and welcome to Week 28 of #HOMwork!

Remember in Week 11's challenge when we celebrated the little things in life that make your day? Those tiny little moments of joy, like finding $20 in the pocket of an old pair of jeans or sinking a trashcan free throw from across the room?

Yeah, scrap that because this week, we're going to focus on the complete opposite.

While I typically believe in the power of positivity, I also recognize that sometimes, sh*t happens (we're only human, after all)!

Your assignment is to letter or illustrate a tiny thing in life that has the ability to ruin your day. I want you to think of something light-hearted but specific that ALWAYS makes you go "NOOOOOOO!", and then poke fun at it.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Dropping your ice cream cone after only a few licks

  • When you're halfway to work and can't remember if you turned your hair straightener off

  • Stepping on a LEGO that was hiding in the carpet

Sharing your day-ruiner could actually make someone's day because they'll be like, "YESSS I hate when that happens too. Thank goodness I'm not alone."

After you complete the assignment, the second part of the challenge is to snap a photo of your drawing and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #HOMwork so we can see what everyone created. In the caption, tell us a story about a time when your 'NOOOOO!' event happened or give us some context as to why it's *the worst*.

As always, I'll be featuring my favorite pieces from this week in my Story. Remember to tag me in your posts so I don't miss 'em.

Looking forward to seeing all of your work this week!

Love,
Lauren
