WEEK 36 - Note to self(ie)
Mirror, mirror on the wall...
Hello and welcome to Week 36 of #HOMwork!
This week we have the talented Dan Lee as our guest teacher! You may know him on Instagram as @dandrawnwords, and he's a master of ligatures and lettering layouts with lots of words.
From Dan:
Hey all! I’m a letterer, graphic designer, and ex-chemical engineer — ask me about it sometime! — from Philadelphia, currently based in Sheridan, Wyoming. (I tell people it’s a bit of a hike.) I work as the Creative Strategist for a rad business development/marketing agency. I’ve been lettering since I could hold a crayon, and in a little bit more focused way since 2014, when a friend suggested I start posting my artwork on Instagram. That first project ended up connecting me to the vibrant worldwide lettering community that I continue to love and appreciate to this day.
This week’s challenge is in a similar vein to last week’s — letter another note to self, only this time, it should be the kind of “pick me up” you’d want to stick to your mirror and remind yourself of every day.
Actually drawing it on your mirror and taking a mirror selfie (or faking it, like I did!) is optional, but if you’re up for a challenge — bonus points!
After you complete the assignment, the second part of the challenge is to snap a photo of your drawing and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #HOMwork so we can see what everyone would choose to put on their mirrors.
In the caption, tell us what this phrase means to you and why it's something you'd like to see every day.
We'll be featuring our favorite pieces from this week in our Instagram Stories. Remember to tag us, @dandrawnwords and @homsweethom, in your posts so we don't miss 'em!
Can't wait to see your work (and mirror selfies) this week!
