WEEK 38 - That feeling when you make the perfect playlist...
Hey HOMwork friends, happy Friday!
(If this is your first time joining us, take a peek at our Challenge Archive for all previous assignments.)
This week, we have my talented friend Kitty Jardenil as a guest teacher!
Kitty Jardenil is a Filipino lettering artist and graphic designer whose to-do list never ends, making her wish she could keep on working while sleeping. She's had the opportunity to work with two of the biggest companies in her country, ABS-CBN Books and San Miguel Corporation. She’s painted several murals, conducted lettering workshops, and been published in both Goodtype books, Candy Magazine, and the fourth Typism book.
Now a junior at one of the Philippines’ top art schools, Kitty juggles her time between freelancing, academics, personal projects, and being the creative director of her school’s student publication, the Benildean Press Corps.
From Kitty:
When I’m feeling all the feels and my head is surrounded by every single thought imaginable, I like to whip out my earphones, open Spotify, and play my favorite pick-me-up playlist. An intense lip sync ensues, and for a moment, my problems go away. Music is reality’s magic, and it’s amazing how it brings us all together!
My life is a slow and lengthy (and probably boring) movie, and for every moment of it, I’m sure there’s a perfect song that can be played in the background, making the moment feel better (mostly Sara Bareilles and Paramore, if I may say so). Whether to uplift my mood, feed the grief, or charge me up, I’ve made music my confidant and my best friend, and so far it has never let me down. Who needs people when you have music? Just kidding!
I’m no performer or musician, and though I’ve always wanted to be musically inclined, it’s a dream that will only come true in some alternate universe. I’m more of a visual thinker, but that won’t stop me from releasing my next chart-topping album!
Which is why I’m excited to present to you this week’s assignment!

Your Assignment: Create an album cover for the soundtrack to your life. Give your album a title that sums you up as a person.
You can put your work in a mock-up, or go all out and paint on an old CD case or vinyl sleeve! If you have extra time and creative juices, throw in the tracklist artwork and the actual disc/record label as well.
Extra Credit: Make a tracklist of a bunch of made-up song titles that give us a glimpse into your life.
Examples:
She’s a Slow Walker (feat. The School Bell)
Pizza Fixation
When the Sun Rises, I’m Still Fast Asleep
Lazy Days (feat. My Bed)
I know long song titles can seem daunting, but hey, if Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco can do it, so can you!
Caption Idea: Describe your album. Will it feature mellow beats or electronic bops? Will you feature other artists? Let us in on who or what inspired you to make your newest album, too!
Don't forget to tag @homsweethom and @kittyjardenil then follow and use the hashtag #HOMwork so we can see your nostalgia. We’ll be sharing our faves in our Stories all week!
Love,
Kitty & Lauren
