WEEK 9 - What's your cereal trait? (not a typo)
Hey HOMwork friends, happy Friday!
(If this is your first time joining us, take a peek at our Challenge Archive for all previous assignments.)
Hi my name is Lauren, and I'm a serial idea maker. I love coming up with ideas, turning them into passion projects, and using them to build my freelance lettering business. I'm also a serial entrepreneur, procrastinator, snacker...the list goes on and on.
What are your serial traits? This week’s assignment is all about celebrating our “serial” traits by turning them into an actual cereal box!
This visual pun exercise is a great way to think outside the box (lol yup couldn't resist), challenge yourself to design in a new medium, practice your clever copywriting, and present your personality to your followers in a surprising and delightful way. Not only do you get to have fun dreaming up the design, you get to flex your creative muscles with naming the cereal and writing witty tag lines for it.
OMG FREE BRUSHES!
I drew my artwork with a lovely set of Procreate brushes from DesignCuts, and they're giving all HOMwork subscribers two FREE brushes from the same set.

Your Assignment: Letter/design your own cereal box inspired by one of your serial traits!
First, take some time to brainstorm what your “serial” trait is. Are you a serial monogamist, dater, optimist, shopper, pessimist, perfectionist, procrastinator?
Then think about what kind of copy you might typically find on a cereal box and tweak it to fit your trait. Tap into that childhood nostalgia of cereal boxes and have some fun!

Caption Idea: Tell us what your favorite cereal was as a kid (or still is as an adult!) and give us more insight into your serial trait + why you chose it for your cereal box.
Things to Consider - What shape is the cereal? Is there a funny toy inside? Does your cereal have a mascot? What's the nutritional value? What would a commercial for your cereal look like?
Don't forget to tag me @homsweethom and use the hashtag #HOMwork so I can see all your boxes! I'll be sharing my faves in my Stories all week!
